I’ve been doing a few Arabic classes recently, and last night we finally had enough knowledge to put together a close approximation of our names. Mine is رÙوبÙرْتْ , which is nice.
For those of you that can’t see the Arabic, get a better browser or operating system. Or look at the lovely, painstakingly hand-drawn pictograph below:
Of course there are other interpretations and representations (I think a glottal stop in there would help indicate the Scottish pronunciation of the name), but I’m told this is about the closest I’m going to get. I’ll do my other [middle and last] names later, so that you have something to look forward to.
رÙوبÙرْتْ… it has a nice ring to it.
(it’s basically roo-bee-r-t… ish. The ‘ee’ and ‘oo’ sounds can also be kinda ‘ehh’ and ‘u’. It’s hard, okay!)
