Its frustrating me to the point that i no longer buy Apple products in the EU and i would advise everyone to boycott EU Apple products, you can buy the US versions online for the same price and with the full Apple Guarantee.

The sound is way way better on US or Asian versions

This might make the EU trade body wake up and shut up,

People are definitely fool! I want to have a good audio on my iPod. If I say that I can't hear my music properly I can't understand why people say that I'm gonna be deaf. Not all the people listen to rock or heavy metal. I listen to classical music and if I go walking in the street (and my city is not too noisy) I can't hear ANYTHING. When I'm at home and I listen to music on my iPod, I never get the volume louder than 25%, even 20%.
Anyway, I think that each person can do whatever they want. Not everybody listen to the same music!!!! The people who listen to classical music has no the same rights than other people who listen to rock?

About the hearing issue: I am aware of the dangers of loud music, and I don't normally push it. I just don't like not having the capability, especially when there are instances where I would like to exceed the cap temporarily.

It's about control - I don't like the idea of someone telling me what I can do with my own devices. I wouldn't buy a car that was "speed capped" at 70 mph, for example.
